Dr Graham Carmichael

Graham Carmichael is a Specialist Prosthodontist and a director of The Brånemark Center in West Perth. He graduated from the University of Western Australia School of Dentistry with Honours in 2003 and from the University of Sydney with a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics. He is a Fellow by examination with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, and is also a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Prosthodontics. Graham has also graduated with a Bachelor in Science at the University of Western Australia with a double major in Anatomy and Human Biology and Biochemistry, and has Fellowships with the International College of Dentists, the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Prosthodontists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Graham maintains his Specialist Prosthdontic private practice in both the surgical and prosthetic aspects of implant therapy, with a special interest in All-on-4TM reconstructions, immediate placement and loading, and evolution of the digital workflow. He also specializes in the reconstruction of worn and deteriorated teeth, and cosmetic rehabilitations, and he has lectured nationally and internationally in these fields.

He is a Consultant Prosthodontist at the Craniofacial Unit at Perth Childrens’ Hospital and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Western Australia. Graham has served on numerous committees including the Australian Dental Association WA Branch Council (2007 and 2008), past president of the Dental Specialists Society of Western Australia, Australian Prosthodontic Society West Australian state committee (2007-2016), Federal Treasurer Australian Prosthodontic Society 2007-2008 and the Australian Dental Association/University Continuing Dental Education Committee (2006-2024).

Graham has published in the Australian Dental Journal and co authored book chapter on the graftless solution for the edentulous jaw. His research interests include immediate placement and loading, digital workflow of implants, the influence of prosthesis design on treatment outcomes, and patients’ response to implant treatment.

General Practitioner and Forensic Odontologist, Perth, Western Australia.

John completed a Certificate in trade studies in Dental Technology in 1994, running his own crown and bridge dental laboratory until 2002. In 2007 John completed his BDSc with Honours at UWA, and was the Valedictorian for the 2007 graduating year for the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

John is a committee member and secretary/treasurer of the Dental Study Group of WA. Member and team leader of the Children’s Health Aid Team in Vietnam treating orphaned and special needs children 2007-2009. Committee member of the Australian Society of Forensic Odontology (AuSFO) 2020-2024. Consultant Forensic Odontology Officer at PathWest WA, Co-founder and committee member of the Western Australian Forensic Odontology Group of WA (WAFOG) for Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) management and preparedness. Co-coordinator, lecturer and examiner at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Dental School for the Forensic Odontology module.  Guest lecturer for TAFE (Tertiary and Further Education) for Dental Nursing students in the field of Forensic Odontology.

Outside of dentistry, John loves footy, tennis, F1, fishing, camping and 4wd’ing. John plays footy for the Wembley Vets Football Club.

John is married to Katie and has two children, William and Ava.

Dr Vanessa William

Dr Vanessa William is a Specialist Paediatric Dentist who graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 1996, and  completed her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Melbourne in 2004. In the same year, she attained her Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, followed by Fellowships with the Academy of Dentistry International (2017) and the International College of Dentists (2018). A past President of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry (WA Branch), Vanessa is co-owner of Bicton and Cockburn Paediatric Dentistry. She is also the lead author of two widely cited papers “Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization: Review and Recommendations for Clinical Management” (Pediatric Dentistry, 2006), “Microshear bond strength of resin composite to teeth affected by molar hypomineralization using 2 adhesive systems” (Pediatric Dentistry 2006) which has been influential in shaping clinical approaches to MIH.  Dedicated to her profession and her young patients, Vanessa strives to balance her career with her most important role as a mother of two boys, cherishing time spent with her husband and family.

Dr Janina Christoforou

Dr Janina Christoforou is an oral medicine specialist with expertise in the management of mucosal disease and orofacial pain. Trained in Western Australia, she is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Oral Medicine Academy of Australasia, and also holds Fellowships with the Academy Dental International and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Janina is actively involved in teaching and research as a Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia, contributing to numerous research publications and book chapters. She holds consultant positions in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, the Maxillofacial Department at Perth Children’s Hospital, and she also maintains a private practice at Western Oral Medicine Group. Committed to community service, she volunteers her time to provide oral medicine care to disadvantaged populations.

An engaged member of the Australian Dental Association, Janina has served as a Federal Councillor, contributed to multiple Federal and State committees, and currently holds the position of Vice President of the Australian Dental Association of WA.

Outside of dentistry, Janina enjoys spending time with her husband, her lively daughter, and their little dog.

Dr John Watson

Dr John Watson is a general practitioner based in Subiaco.

Since graduating UWA with BDSc in 1993 he has worked variously in regional WA, Perth and overseas in both private and public dentistry.  In 2004 John achieved Fellowship by examination of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and has served as Regional Secretary, Chairperson and Treasurer since 2015 and is currently serving as national Registrar (GDP).

He has been and is currently a clinical tutor and formerly an external examiner at UWA Dental School.

John has been involved in the delivery of CPD for dentists through the College and also having served for two years on the CPD committee for ADAWA.

In 2023 he was elected a Fellow of the Pierre Fuchard Academy and Fellow of the International College of Dentists in 2024.

John is married to Rebecca and they have two daughters with whom they escape to their Fergusson Valley retreat whenever possible.

 

Dr Louise Winters

Dr Louise Winters is a general practitioner and the current owner of Southbridge Dental in South Perth. Louise graduated from the University of Western Australia with honours in 2011, and has worked in private practice in South Perth, Belmont and Fremantle prior to joining Southbridge Dental in 2020. 
Continued learning is a priority for Louise, frequently attending post-graduate education courses and meetings. Her professional memberships include the Australian Dental Association, The International Team for Implantology, The Dental Study Group of Western Australia and she became a Member of The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2019.
Louise has been a clinical tutor and an external examiner of dental students at UWA and she currently mentors membership candidates of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Louise lives in Como with her husband Josh and young son Hugo. She has a love of travel, cooking, and has been riding and competing horses since the age of seven.
