The Bunker Bay Weekend Convention was a resounding success and was greatly enjoyed by members and their families. The weekend commenced on Friday evening with an informal gathering at Bungalow Social in Dunsborough, where pizzas, finger food and cheerful conversation provided a fitting introduction to the program ahead.
Saturday began with a buffet breakfast at the resort before members proceeded to the Dunsborough Country Club for the scientific meeting. The presentations were engaging and informative, and we sincerely thank Drs Andrew Savundra, Louise Winters, John Marsell, Asheen Behari, Stephen Knott and Simon Shanahan for sharing their expertise with the group. Following lunch at the Country Club, members and families moved to the greens for an afternoon of lawn bowls. While the bowling itself may not have troubled the selectors, the laughter and good-natured banter were of the highest standard.
On Saturday evening, the group reconvened at Bailey Brewing for dinner, drinks and celebration. The children settled happily at their own tables, while the adults enjoyed the opportunity to dine and socialise. As we made up the majority of guests at Bailey Brewing, it was not long before the venue felt almost like our own—although, to the staff’s credit, they remained remarkably gracious about the temporary takeover.
Overall, the weekend provided an excellent opportunity to reconnect, learn, relax and enjoy the fellowship that continues to make these conventions so valuable. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the organisation of the event, to those who presented, and to all members and families who helped make the weekend such a success. Bunker Bay proved an outstanding setting for a memorable gathering—and, judging by the enthusiasm on display, possibly a strong contender for a return visit once everyone has recovered from their lawn bowls form.
